How to change Siri’s Voice
Siri’s default voice settings sound pretty good. Reasonably friendly, calm, and even jokey at times. In some countries, Siri is a ‘she’, in others a ‘he’, but did you know it is possible to change the ‘sex’ of Siri on your device, and even the accent if you so desire?
Changing Siri’s Voice in iOS
To change Siri’s voice on the iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings
- Scroll down to Siri and Search
- Tap on the ‘Siri Voice’ option
- Choose the appropriate accent and gender
You can also change the language - with a striking amount of English variations - which is useful if you have a particularly strong accent.
Note that if you do make a change to the language, you’ll need to go through the ‘Hey Siri’ setup steps again, as he/she will need to relearn your voice.
Changing Siri’s Voice on macOS
You also have the option to change Siri’s voice and language settings on macOS (macOS Sierra upwards) too.
- Open System Preferences
- Select Siri
- Choose a language
- Choose a voice
In some languages, you may have fewer voice options and language variations may be slightly different.
